Microsoft Access is an efficient and productive database development tool that is highly suited to situations involving the entry of data, then later outputting the information in printed reports or to screens. These situations are typical of business administration functions.

Procurement Bakery Order Fulfillment
Our client provides logistics support for AusAid. They obtain quotes and purchases on their behalf, which are all recorded in the database. When a requirement for similar products is raised, the database is used to quickly determine the best suppliers from which to procure those items. It is also used to track receipts and despatches of emergency stocked items, such as those required for the Solomon Islands tidal wave. Our client provides bread for fine Sydney restaurants including Tetsuyas, and stores such as David Jones. The database is used to record all standing and one-off orders, and produce the order and production sheets, including some complex recipe formulae. Invoices and delivery notes are created in the database, and exported to MYOB.

Project Budget Allocation Tour Registration
Our client's employees enter their hours performed on each project over a certain period. The payroll costs are imported into the database, and it allocates the costs to various activities, as well as determining other overheads and OSHA amounts. These amounts are exported for use in the financial systems. Bookings are entered for our client's 4WD tours into their database, which creates confirmation emails to be sent to the travel agents. The bookings are assigned to drivers and vehicles, and driver run sheets are printed to conduct the tour. Invoices are created and emailed to the agents. The fuel and vehicle costs are entered, giving accurate revenue and cost generation, both past and forecast.

Direct Marketing Counselling Care
All customers and prospects are entered into our client's database, along with purchases of their magazines or online products. Envelopes are printed every week for the thousands of subscribers to their magazines. They can use complex criteria to target lists of customers and prospects, and include them in a direct marketing postal or email campaign. Our client record their patients details, and each episode of care in this database. As well as a patient history mechanism, the database calculates and produces all the figures required for various government reports.

Event Management Inventory Stocktake
Originally commissioned for use with the Rugby World Cup, this database is used to track and manage all the issues that typically arise with an event of that size. Our client continue to use it to manage events of a similar size. This simple database is used to record the current inventory levels of our client's stock, and print out various reports by stock item or location.
